企画概要 / Plan outline
青山学院大学の卒業生の中にはSDGsに関係の深い職業に就き、国際舞台で活躍する人が少なくない。
1984年に英米文学科を卒業した山口しのぶ博士（東京工業大学教授）もその一人であり、
現在青山キャンパスの真向かいにある国連大学のサステイナビリティ高等研究所所長として頻繁に海外を飛び回り、
次世代の地球が持続可能であることを目指して活動している。
専門は国際教育学と国際開発学で、特にアジア地域における教育や開発の研究に重点を置いており、
今年の同窓祭公開講座ではラオスにある世界遺産の町の開発に伴い発生した問題を例にとり、
特定地域問題の分析や問題改善の状況把握などがICTなどの先端技術を導入することで効果的に行えることを解説する予定である。
このように山口博士の公開講座は現代の地球人にとって必須の持続可能性に関するテーマを扱い、
青山学院のGlobal Weekの精神にも深く通じるものがあるので、同プログラムの一つに組み込むにふさわしいイベンドである。
Among the graduates of Aoyama Gakuin University, there are quite a number of people who have a profession closely related to SDGs and who are active on the international stage.
Dr. Shinobu Yamaguchi (a professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology), who graduated from the Department of English in 1984, is one of them.
She frequently travels abroad as the director of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies at the United Nations University just across from the Aoyama Campus, and works to ensure that the future generations of Earth are sustainable.
Dr Yamaguchi specializes in international education and international development, with particular emphasis on education and development research in the Asian region.
This year's Open Lecture on World Heritage in Laos will take as an example the problems that have arisen from the development of a town in Laos as a World Heritage site, and will explain the effective implementation of advanced technologies such as ICT in analyzing specific regional issues and grasping the circumstances of problem improvement.
Thus, Dr. Yamaguchi's public lecture deals with the topic of sustainability, which is essential for the modern planet, and is deeply connected to the spirit of Global Week at Aoyama Gakuin, so it is an event suitable for incorporating into any one of the programs.
