ご挨拶

相模原キャンパスは、2003年に開学しましたが、この度、両キャンパスで相模原キャンパスの15年を振り返る特別展示を開催することとなりました。私たちは、ICT、IoT、AI、ビックデータなどに代表とされる技術革新の急速な進歩の中でこのキャンパスの進展を見てきました。
相模原キャンパスは、①高度情報、②国際交流、③地域共生、④環境共生、⑤人にやさしいなどのコンセプトに基づいて造られました。その先見の明が、昨今の急速な社会の進歩の中でも、相模原キャンパスの揺るぎない存在感を保ち続けています。一例を挙げますと、学生に優しい環境をめざして、ゆっくり落ち着いてキャンパスで過ごせるような工夫。中庭を眺めることのできる学生ラウンジは、全面ガラス張りで２階まで吹き抜けの空間。そこは、自分のコンピュータを持ち込んでインターネットにアクセスできるインターネットカフェにもなり、図書館でもなく、食堂でもない学生のためのスペースです。このように上記のコンセプトが息づいています。
さて、この15年の歴史を振り返ってみましょう。2003年3月の世田谷キャンパスと厚木キャンパスの閉鎖からはじまり、2003年10月の相模原キャンパス開学式、2008年4月の社会情報学部の開設、2012年3月の相模原グラウンド竣工、2013年4月の大学就学キャンパス再配置、2015年4月の地球社会共生学部の開設、そして2019年4月にはキャンパスに展開する新たに４つ目の学部として、コミュニティ人間科学部が開設しました。
文理融合の垣根を越えたリベラルアーツの相模原キャンパスは、進化と発展を続けています。今回の企画は、その進化と発展の詳細を振り返るものです。是非、皆さんの思いのこもった素晴らしい相模原キャンパスの歴史を堪能して頂ければと思います。

Greetings

Sagamihara Campus opened in 2003. We are delighted to hold this special exhibition that showcases the 15-year history of the campus, at both Aoyama and Sagamihara campuses. The development of Sagamihara Campus has progressed in step with rapid advances in technical innovation typified by ICT, IoT, AI and big data.
Sagamihara Campus was established based on concepts of (1) advanced information, (2) international exchange, (3) maintaining harmony with local communities, (4) symbiosis with the environment and (5) people-friendliness. This far-sighted thinking has contributed to the unwavering role of Sagamihara Campus in the recent rapid development of society. One example is the various students-friendly features, which offer a very comfortable environment. The student lounge, which features views of the courtyard, is a two-story, fully-encased glass atrium. The space is not a library or canteen but is for use by students; for example, as an internet café where they can bring in their own computers to use the internet. It is a reflection of the concepts cited above.
Consider the 15-year history. It began with the closure of Setagaya and Atsugi campuses in March 2003, followed by the opening ceremony for Sagamihara Campus in October of the same year. In April 2008, the School of Social Informatics was established. In March 2012, the construction of the Sagamihara sports fields was completed. In April 2013, a university campus rearrangement was undertaken. In April 2015, the School of Global Studies and Collaboration was established. And in April 2019, the College of Community Studies was established as the fourth new department on the campus.
Characterized by liberal arts that transcend the boundaries of the humanities and sciences, Sagamihara Campus continues to evolve and progress. In this exhibition, you will be able to explore the wonderful history of Sagamihara Campus and sense the enthusiasm of all who have been a part of it.
